Proactive Safety in Action: Highlights from DAHQ’s October Educational Event
In October, the Delaware Association for Healthcare Quality (DAHQ) brought members and colleagues together for an engaging and interactive educational experience focused on one of healthcare’s most critical priorities—safety.
On October 23, DAHQ hosted an interactive workshop and networking event titled Proactive Safety: Tools, Tactics, and Teamwork at the Crooked Hammock in Middletown, Delaware. The event blended practical learning with meaningful connection, creating an environment that encouraged both discussion and collaboration.
Shifting the Focus to Proactive Safety
The workshop centered on helping participants better understand and apply proactive safety principles in healthcare settings. Learning objectives included defining proactive safety and distinguishing it from traditional reactive safety approaches. Through guided discussion and shared experiences, attendees explored strategies for anticipating risk, strengthening systems, and supporting safer outcomes before harm occurs.
From Concepts to Practice
Participants also examined strategies for implementing proactive safety practices within their own organizations. The interactive format encouraged dialogue, reflection, and the exchange of real‑world insights—making the content both practical and immediately relevant.
Connection Through Networking
In addition to education, the event emphasized the value of professional connection. Facilitated networking activities were designed to promote shared learning, collaboration, and relationship‑building across disciplines and organizations. Attendees had the opportunity to connect with peers, exchange ideas, and strengthen the professional networks that support healthcare quality improvement statewide.
Continuing Education Credit
To support professional development, one Continuing Education (CE) credit was available for participants, reinforcing DAHQ’s ongoing commitment to high‑quality, accredited educational offerings.
DAHQ continues to offer educational programs that support learning, connection, and professional growth. Members and colleagues are encouraged to explore upcoming events—or to contribute by submitting a topic or idea for a future educational session.
